Following the closure of Four Points by Sheraton in Sandakan, Swiss-Garden International (SGI) Group is also forced to take similar action.
Group Managing Director Ong Ju Yan issued a memorandum announcing the closure of 3 hotels around Malaysia and also updates on remaining properties moving forward.
As mentioned in the image below, the 3 hotels that have already down are:
- Swiss-Garden Resort Damai Laut, Perak
- Swiss-Inn Chinatown Kuala Lumpur
- Swiss-Inn Sungai Petani, Kedah
Even with the government’s wage subsidy initiative and temporary pay cuts for higher ranking employees, the company has continued to bleed financially. With little to zero income since the movement control order (MCO) started on 18th March, SGI is attempting to salvage with what’s left.
In the statement, it is understood that Swiss-Garden Resort Damai Laut has been sold to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. In the meantime, Swiss-Inn Johor Bahru will remain as a quarantine hotel but will be converted into Holiday Inn Express in the coming months.
