Take note shoppers, MyTOWN Shopping Centre won’t be open today (Sunday, 3rd May) for disinfection purposes.
Last night (Saturday, 2nd May), both Village Grocer and MyTOWN released statements to confirm that one of the staff there had been tested positive for Covid-19.
In case you’re wondering, the new Covid-19 patient isn’t a Village Grocer worker. Many netizens criticised MyTOWN Shopping Centre for not taking quicker action in shutting down the mall earlier since it was informed by the Ministry of Health on 30th April. Instead, it allowed the public to patronise shops on 1st May.
MyTOWN later clarified that the Covid-19 patient was a security employee who “takes care of the fire control room and was based in that room monitoring CCTV which has no contact with customers“. The security employee, who is believed to had come in contact with an outsourced personnel, was not present at the mall on 1st May.
With more and more malls reopening, do take extra precaution when going out.
