There’s no doubt that fans can see that the love is still present between Chef Wan and ex-wife, Norhayati Ayub despite being separated.
The Malaysian cooking legend took to his Instagram over the weekend where he shared the final moment they had together before she sadly departed from this world last week.
He opened the post by writing, “Thank you for the thousands of wishes and condolences on the passing of my ex-wife due to kidney failure, diabetes and just a few hours before that, she suffered a minor stroke on the brain. She was hospitalised for pneumonia and breathing difficulties.”
He recalled, “In the last 3 hours when she was on the verge of death (nazak), my son and I were there. But my daughter was on board from Kuala Terengganu. I was feeling feverish that day so I went back to my penthouse in Ampang to take my medicine. I took my shower and planned to come back to the hospital.”
The 62-year-old continued, “I received the news about her death from my son. By this time some of my sisters, sister-in-law and nieces were all there to bid their farewells. According to my son, her breath just got weaker and it eventually stopped.”
Chef Wan further added that the late Norhayati was laid to rest at the Ukay Perdana cemetery. Prior to that, all of the family members gathered at the Ampang mosque. “My siblings, nephew, nieces, her sister and my kids were at the mosque all night for the Yassin recitation and to keep her body until the next morning for the burial.”
Initially, he wanted the late Norhayati’s body to be cremated near his home in Cyberjaya. He even had a panic episode before rushing to the mosque in Ampang. “Luckily there’s a few committee members at that time. The imam also told me to not to worry. He advised me to get the forensic letter from the hospital and they’ll provide us with a transport to bring her to the mosque,” shared Chef Wan.
Thankfully, all of the matters regarding Norhayati’s funeral were eventually settled.
