Uh oh, Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd have been slapped with a lawsuit after being accused of plagiarism over their “Black Panther” soundtrack single, “Pray For Me”.
Rock band Yeasayer claims that the song infringes on their “All Hour Cymbals” song, “Sunrise”.
The legal documents viewed by TMZ and Pitchfork details that the Brooklyn-based band has accused the duo of lifting material from their 2007 song. Apparently “Pray For Me” features a “distinctive choral performance” of their “Sunrise” track. Yeasayer described the similarities around “male voices singing in their highest registers, with animated, pulsing vibrato”.
The band also asserted that Kendrick Lamar and the Weeknd only modified the sound slightly with an “intent to conceal the infringement”. They are now seeking profits from “Pray For Me” and damages.

Here’s the ironic part: Yeasayer broke up at the end of last year.
