Check out what DJ Kaylova had to say in the interview transcript below:

1. Emerging trends in the music scene.

If you look at the upcoming festivals and electronic dance music releases, Psytrance, Hardstyle and Future Bass are increasing in popularity. I also noticed that many DJs no longer stick to one genre during their sets as new trends are emerging so quickly that the audience has so much to choose from and they want to hear everything in a set.

2. Her feelings about spinning at Siloso Beach Party for 5 consecutive years and what’s new this year.

It’s always surprising and exciting whenever Siloso Beach Party is nearing! The stage set up, DJ lineup and pre-promotion campaigns are unique every year. I’d never know what I’m expecting! This year, I’ve also created more edits and mashups that I’ll be playing exclusively at Siloso Beach Party 2019, to usher in the new decade.

3. What inspired her vision behind mixing the track and how does she want listeners to feel.

I had a lot on my mind when I first started the Siloso Beat project. Sentosa is a place where I’ve seen its transformation since I was a kid till my adulthood and I’m sure it’s the same for many Singaporeans. I wanted to incorporate all the possible unique sounds that I could find on the island and make it into a track that people can hear and can feel as if they are already on Sentosa, surrounded by these elements without being physically there. The track also has an incredible amount of energy. I hope it sets all the partygoers in the mood ready for the upcoming Siloso Beach Party!

4. Challenges she faced while working on the Siloso Beat.

Definitely the timeline and the whole process of trying to find that perfect sound! Producing music takes a lot of time and not to forget recording these raw sounds under Singapore’s hot weather. Nonetheless, the entire production was super fun and a great experience for me. I’ve never done this before and I’m glad I took up this challenge.
