Raise your hands if you grew up playing the super entertaining Monopoly board game. Guess what folks? Malaysians will soon be able to relive the fun times as the world’s first Monopoly hotel is scheduled to open in Bukit Bintang next year.
Called the Monopoly Mansion by Sirocco, the Monopoly-themed hotel will house 255 luxury guests rooms, a rooftop pool and sky lounge, a sky ballroom, meeting lounges, as well as a spa. The five-star boutique hotel will be situated at the M101 Bukit Bintang development owned by M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd.

According to local reports, Monopoly Mansion will feature “1920s Art Deco design and architecture for its thematic facilities, bar and restaurant”. The intention is to harken back to Monopoly’s origins by injecting a rather Gatsby-like feel.
“Nowadays, choosing a hotel it is not only about a good night’s sleep. Millennials are looking for a memorable experience influenced by ambience, architecture, panoramic views or objects. Other generations too are placing increasing value on distant experiences and actively seeking them when travelling,” said Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Nazri added, “Hotels such as the Monopoly Mansion which offers thematic amenities and not to mention its strategic location would encourage visitors to Malaysia to not only lengthen their stay, but to return to visit us again.”

M101 chief executive officer Datuk Seth Yap also shared that the partnership between M101 and Hasbro (an American multinational toymaker company that owns the board game license) is to promote Malaysian through property tourism.
“Working with Monopoly is not a brand tagging exercise but a brand experience. To live and feel the brand. As Hasbro is committed to creating the ‘World’s Best Play Experience’, so do we believe in creating endearing values when it comes to real estate through the property tourism platform,” he was quoted as saying.

M101 previously announced its plans to launch the world’s first Ferris Wheel Skyscraper as well as collaborate with brands like Planet Hollywood and Studio F.A Porsche. The M101 Skywheel project is targeted to complete by 2020.
