Are you stoked Potterheads? The title for the “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” sequel has finally been unveiled, along with the first look at its main cast.
Titled “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”, the wizarding world is heating up once again as it delves into more grownup territory. It’s no secret that Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp) will be a big focus on the 2nd instalment.
As the title suggests, Grindelwald’s detainment under the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA) won’t last very long. Once he escapes, he will be hellbent on gathering pure-blood wizards to rule over all non-magical beings. We know from the Potterverse that Grindelwald’s ascent to power (much like Lord Voldemort) will signal the dark time for the the wizarding world.
Fans are also treated to a first look at Jude Law in his debut in costume as the young Albus Dumbledore. The future headmaster of Hogwarts will be enlisting the help of his former student Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) as the 2 have a history together. Eagled-eyed observers noticed that Dumbledore is holding a long wand but it’s not the Elder Wand.
That because Grindelwald has it.

For those that don’t know, Grindelwald stole the most powerful wand from wandmaker Gregorovitch. However that doesn’t mean Grindelwald has attained invincibility because Dumbledore was able to defeat him in 1945. Grindelwald was then imprisoned in Nurmengard, only to later die in the hands of Voldemort, who was himself searching for the Elder Wand.
Aside from Dumbledore, we’ll also get to meet Newt Scamander’s former flame, Leta Lestrange. She’s now engaged to Newt’s older brother, Theseus, who is not only a war hero but Head of the Auror Office at the British Ministry of Magic. The sequel takes place in 1927, just a few months after Newt’s first adventure.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” will hit theatres on 16th November 2018.
