Dear Singapore, nice try, but Malaysians can soon purchase their very own Nasi Lemak Burger at myBurgerLab.

The burger joint recently tweeted that the locally-inspired “Nasi Lemak” burger will be available across their Malaysian outlets. Ladies and gents, here is your first look at myBurgerLab’s version of Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang Burger.

To show people how serious they were, myBurgerLab even included the Malaysian flag in the background image. Last night (Sunday, 30th July), the eatery took to their Facebook page to address their previous tweet, “Didn’t think a single tweet would spark a war between Malaysia and Singapore. Oh well, fellow Malaysians you wanted a Nasi Lemak burger… well you got it.”

So what inspired myBurgerLab to come with Nasi Lemak Burger? “(The Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang Burger) is for our National Day (on 31st August) and also as a response to everyone who tagged us and requested for this burger to be made, because Malaysia’s McDonald’s didn’t have it,” a rep for myBurgerLab told Channel NewsAsia.

“We actually had this recipe since 3 years ago, but we decided not to launch it because we felt it was a boring product. We thought: ‘Why would you eat a nasi lemak burger when you can have nasi lemak?’ Well, it seems times have changed and people want some form of fusion in their food nowadays,” the spokesperson added.

For inquiring minds, myBurgerLab’s Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang Burger will be available this coming Friday (4th August). Launched in 2012, there are 4 outlets across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Cyberjaya.
