In conjunction with the launch of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Rapid KL announced that commuters will get to enjoy 50% discount off Light Rail Transit (LRT), Monorel, and Rapid Bus Transit (BRT) rides. The promo begins tomorrow (Tuesday, 18th July) and will last till 31st August.
Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak stated that the public will be entitled to free rides on the new MRT line (Phase 2) as well enjoy 50% off other transportation modes till Merdeka Day.
“I am pleased to announce that starting from 4pm until midnight today, all passengers will be able to enjoy free rides on this new MRT line. I would also like to announce that all passengers will get to enjoy 50% discount from tomorrow (Tuesday) until Merdeka Day on August 31, for all MRT, LRT and Monorail lines,” the Prime Minister said.
MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang has a total of 31 stations with a cost of RM21 billion. The project was completed with RM2 billion less than the initial estimated budget of RM23 billion.
