Hopefully there will be no more bad blood between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift after this.
Ever since “Swish Swish” dropped last month, it was obvious to fans that the hit single was a dig towards Swift. Although Perry has denied it on multiple occasions, the 32-year-old singer decided to change the lyrics to the song during her latest live performance.
In the studio version of “Swish Swish”, Perry sings, “Don’t you come for me, no, not today.” However, during her live stream concert in Downtown Los Angeles yesterday (Monday, 12th June), the superstar changed the lyric to a gentler, “God bless you on your journey, oh baby girl.”
This lyric matched the statement she made about her longtime rival on the Today show during her recent interview with NBC’s Natalie Morales. During the exchange, Perry stated that “Swish Swish” was based on her past experience. “I’ve had not just 1 person bully me or 1 person hold me down or met 1 troll,” she said.
In a separate interview with Arianna Huffington, Perry shared that she’s ready to bury the hatchet with Swift and move on. “I am ready to let it go. I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her… There are bigger fish to fry, and there are bigger problems in the world,” she was quoted as saying.
She added, “Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does, and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion. I think that if we both, her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go, like, ‘Yeah, we can do this’.”
Hopefully the 2 superstars can really let bygones be bygones 😉
