Following Soyul’s departure from Crayon Pop, another female idol will be leaving her group too.
UEE has announced that she’ll be graduating from After School following her contract expiration with Pledis Entertainment. The announcement was made today (Wednesday, 31st May) on UEE’s official fan cafe.
The idol group member informed fans about her decision and left a handwritten letter explaining her position.
It reads:
“It seems like it was just yesterday that I debuted through After School but it has already been 8 years since then. My fellow members who were high schoolers at the time are now college students and my occupation has changed as well. Over the years, ‘graduating’ (from After School) seemed like a faraway event but somehow it is now my turn.
Now that I am not an After School member, I will work hard towards the future as an After School graduate! Also, I would like to say thank you to our agency’s director for taking care of me since my pre-debut days.
I’m thankful to everyone at Pledis and am both thankful and apologetic to my fellow After School members. I will try my best to become a bright and hardworking UEE.”
A representative from Pledis Entertainment also wished her the best, saying, “We hope that UEE will be successful in all of her endeavours. We will continue to cheer her on. This does not mark the disbandment of After School.”
UEE will be leaving her label at the end of the month, when her contract officially expires. She is the 6th member to “graduate” from After School, who holds the admission-graduation concept where members are added or withdrawn in a “natural” manner. Other members who have left the group are Soyoung, Bekah, Kahi, Jooyeon, and Jungah.
Although After School has been inactive since 2015, when they dropped their Japanese compilation album “BEST”, the group still has 5 members under their roster. They are Nana, Raina, Lizzy, E-Young, and Kaeun.
