This is one proud day for Armys and BTS (Bangtan Boys/Bangtan Sonyeodan).
The idol group was recently nominated for a Billboard Music Awards (BBMA) category, and as expected, fans were extremely proud of them. This is because the group is the first ever K-Pop group to be nominated for the show in any of the categories.
And now, their fans have more reason to celebrate as the 4-year-old idol group has confirmed their attendance for the awards show.
In their article, Billboard exclaimed, “BTS announced Monday (May 8) that they will attend the BBMAs in hopes of winning the award for top social artist. The event will be the K-pop superstars’ first U.S. red carpet.”
Their nomination for the “Top Social Artiste” award came as no surprise, seeing as they have a total of 9.27 million followers on both of their Twitter accounts. BTS is also a strong contender on YouTube, as they currently hold the record for fastest K-Pop music video by an idol group to reach 11 million views within 24 hours.
Their music videos for “Not Today” and “Spring Day” have also reached more than 70 million views respectively in a matter of 2 months.
Other nominees for the category include Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Shawn Mendes. It’ll not be an easy feat defeating the other nominees, seeing that the artistes all have huge following on social media as well.
Regardless, we’re proud of you, BTS!
This year’s Billboard Music Awards will be held on 21st May at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
