Nobody saw this coming but there’s apparently a hot new couple in Tinseltown. Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (real name Abel Tesfaye) were photographed getting hot and heavy on Tuesday (10th January) night.
There’s no confirmation on how long this duo has been seeing each other, but judging from the steamy pictures below, they’re definitely an item. The singers were spotted cuddling, getting very cozy, and kissing outside a Giorgio Baldi restaurant, in Santa Monica, California.
E! News reported that Gomez and The Weeknd had their own personal server during their romantic dinner date, away from the crowd. “They were hugging and kissing. His driver waited for them and her driver pulled up shortly after. They were super affectionate. Selena was all over him. Hugging him, kissing. She looked amazing so incredibly happy and in love,” a source was quoted as saying.
It’s pretty obvious that 24-year-old beauty couldn’t keep her hands to herself! Despite spending 3 hours at the celeb-beloved restaurant, their date night continued on. An insider revealed that they arrived in separate cars but left together in the “False Alarm” singer’s vehicle as Gomez’s driver followed behind.
The “Kill Em With Kindness” singer was casually dressed in an oversized black trench coat, loose blue jeans, and black booties. Her handsome date also kept things simple by wearing a jean jacket, black pants, sneakers, and a beige baseball cap.
The new couple initially wanted to keep their relationship on a down low but later changed their minds. “At first, Selena and Abel wanted to keep their relationship a secret. But they’ve decided they really don’t care if everyone knows about them,” another source revealed.
Their budding musical romance comes shortly after Gomez decided to take a hiatus from her music career and seek treatment for depression and other side effects of her chronic lupus. The Weeknd, on the other hand, famously broke up with his model girlfriend Bella Hadid after dating on and off for 2 years.
“Abel always had a thing for Selena. He thinks she is extremely talented and sexy. They recently started talking before the holidays but she has been on his radar before. They are on the same level with expectations and think the other is really fun. They are taking things slow and getting to know each other,” a source commented.
