While Disney fans await the arrival of Emma Watson and Dan Steven’s “Beauty and the Beast”, various news outlets are reporting that Ariana Grande and John Legend are covering the film’s theme song, which was originally sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson.
According to Teen Vogue, speculations started when Grande took to Instagram to post a selfie of her in a dark recording booth, tagging Legend and the movie’s official Instagram account (who re-shared her post) in the photo.
Previously, many Disney films featured pop renditions of their original songs in the ending credits. This includes Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s “A Whole New World” (“Aladdin”), Christina Aguilera’s “Reflection” (“Mulan”), Vanessa William’s “Colours of the Wind” (“Pocahontas”), Demi Lovato’s “Let it Go” (“Frozen”), and most recently, Alessia Cara’s “How Far I’ll Go” (“Moana”).
It was also reported that Grande and Legend’s duet will be produced by Ron Fair while renowned music video director Dave Meyers will helm the single’s visuals.
We don’t know about you, but something tells us that the original theme song shouldn’t be covered ?
Directed by Bill Condon, “Beauty and the Beast” retells the journey of Belle (played by Emma Watson), a bright, beautiful, and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast (played by Dan Stevens) in his castle.
The live-action adaptation of one of Disney’s most beloved animated classic will hit cinemas on 17th March 2017.
