We’ve always wanted to see them together again and now, we hear that the cast of F.R.I.E.N.D.S is reuniting on NBC!
Sort of.
At Wednesday’s NBC appearance at the Television Critics Association, network entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt said that they’re busy readying a 2-hour primetime special to celebrate iconic TV director James Burrows’ 1,000th episode – 15 of which were F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
As you would expect, among the many invited guests planned for the special are such as your favourite friends e.g. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer.
When asked if it was a legitimate reunion of all 6 actors filming at the same time, Bob Greenblatt said, “I shouldn’t go into detail. I’m hoping that all six of them will be there in the same room at the same time. I don’t know, logistically, if we can pull that off.”
But NBC unscripted czar Paul Telegdy, who’s involved in the project, was quick to add that all 6 would be participating in some manner.
The NBC special will also reunite the casts of other landmark James Burrows series, including “Taxi”, “Cheers”, “Frasier”, and “Will & Grace”. The stars of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mike & Molly” will also appear.
In the years since F.R.I.E.N.D.S went off the air, fans have seen various cast members reunite on TV, but never all 6 at the same time. The special will undoubtedly be a bittersweet one as it will mark the first time since 2004 that the entire gang appears in the same project.
Meanwhile, here’s what Joey Tribbiani Matt LeBlanc has to say about news of the “get together”:
