The trailer for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming war film has finally arrived and things are looking very, very dark.
Set in the Second World War, “Dunkirk” revolves around the Dunkirk evacuation (also known as Operation Dynamo), a historical event that saw the evacuation of 400,000 Allied soldiers from the British Empire, Belgium, and France from the beaches of Dunkirk, France between 26th May and 4th June 1940.
Based on Nolan’s own original screenplay, the movie stars a group of young cast including Fionn Whitehead, Jack Lowden, Aneurin Barnard, and One Direction member Harry Styles.
Besides that, recent Academy Award winner Mark Rylance (of “Bridge of Spies” fame), Tom Hardy (of “Mad Max: Fury Road” fame), and Cillian Murphy (of “Inception” fame) are also part of the cast.
Calling it “the event that shaped our world”, the trailer is shot ala Nolan style – devastating, grim, and epic. The trailer shows bodies of dead soldiers floating at sea, bullets shooting from the sky while groups of soldiers try to run for their lives, and a lot of explosions. Judging by the looks of it, we think that “Dunkirk” is definitely a must-watch for all history junkies.
