It was reported that Australian actress Ruby Rose is in talks to join the 3rd instalment for the “Pitch Perfect” franchise, which will be helmed by Trish Sie (of “Step Up” fame).
While Elizabeth Banks will no longer act as director, she will reprise her role as Gail Abernathy-McKadden, a commentator for the ICCAs (The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella), and will remain on board as the film’s producer.
2017 is sure looking busy for the “Orange Is The New Black” actress. Not only is she starring in “xXx: Return of Xander Cage” alongside Vin Diesel (of “The Fast and the Furious” fame) and Nina Dobrev (of “The Vampire Diaries” fame), but she will also be appearing in “Resident Evil: Final Chapter” and “John Wick 2”.
According to Variety, Rose recently wrapped production on “Meg”, a shark film that also stars Jason Statham and Chinese actress Fan Bingbing.
Though plot details have been released yet, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson (aka Fat Amy), and Brittany Snow are all signed on to return for “Pitch Perfect 3”.
The franchise follows a college female a cappella group, The Barden Bellas, as they compete against another a cappella group from their college to win the ICCAs. “Pitch Perfect” is loosely based on Mickey Rapkin’s non-fiction book, titled “Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory”.
“Pitch Perfet 3” is slated for release on 22nd December 2017.
