“Deadpool 2” is very much happening. While the sequel still remains, for the most part, a mystery (the project doesn’t have a released date or any solid details on casting), that doesn’t mean rumours haven’t been flying off the shelve.
Marvel’s former mercenary turned member of the X-Men, Domino, will be making her big screen debut and joining Deadpool for his next cinematic adventure.
Like Deadpool, Neena Thurman aka Domino is a mutant and mercenary. As a former survivor of a government experiment called Project: Armageddon, she possessed the ability to initiate random telekinetic acts that turn probability in her favour. In short, she can manipulate luck.
Additionally in the Marvel comics, Domino has a close connection with time-traveling mutant Cable, whom is often seen as her partner, confidante and lover. The couple are also in league with Deadpool.
It was previously been confirmed in the post-credits scene that Cable will be making his big screen debut in “Deadpool 2”, although there’s no word yet on which actor will be taking on the role. However, we do have the shortlist of actresses who are being considered to play Domino.
The shortlist of 10 actresses are:
- Lizzy Caplan (“Masters of Sex”, “Now You See Me 2”)
- Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“10 Cloverfield Lane”)
- Sienna Miller (“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”)
- Sofia Boutella (“Kingsman: The Secret Service”)
- Stephanie Sigman (“Spectre”)
- Sylvia Hoeks (“Overspel”)
- Mackenzie Davis (“Halt and Catch Fire”)
- Ruby Rose (“Orange Is the New Black”)
- Eve Hewson (“The Knick”)
- Kelly Rohrbach (“Baywatch”)
It’s interesting to note that Fox is looking at a wide range of actresses from different nationalities – American, British, Dutch, Mexican, and French – to play Domino. Seeing as how Domino and Cable are typically an item, Cable’s casting may also factor into the decision making.
Out of the 10 shortlisted actresses, who would you like to see take on the role of Domino?
Production for “Deadpool 2” is expected to begin in early 2017.
