Good news Enchanted fans, “Hairspray” director Adam Shankman is in talks to direct “Disenchanted”, the sequel to Disney’s 2007 fantasy musical, “Enchated”. Besides that, “Enchanted” star Amy Adams is expected to return for the sequel, much to fans’ delight.
Kevin Lima’s “Enchanted” centres around on Giselle (played by Amy Adams) who is forced out of her traditional animated world of Andalasia into the live-action world of New York City. She then meet a divorce lawyer named Robert (played by Patrick Dempsey). The movie also starred Susan Sarandon as the evil Queen Narissa, James Marsden as Prince Charming aka Prince Edward, and Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine.
With songs created by Alan Menken, the film grossed over USD340 million worldwide and it was revealed that Disney has been developing a sequel since 2010.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Disenchanted”, which Anne Fletcher was previously attached to direct, will be set 10 years after the events of the first film, with Giselle finding herself questioning her happily life and accidentally triggering events that make everyone’s lives turn upside down in both the real world and in Andalasia.
Production is expected to begin before summer 2017 and the script is written David Stem and David Weiss.
