It’s showtime! Guess who’s back again?
In a surprise reveal, Bruno Mars has dropped “24K Magic” – a delicious new title track and music video, taken from the singer’s new album of the same name (but written in Roman numerals as “XXIVk Magic”). Check out the album art below.
The cover art sees the entertainer sitting comfortably on a (presumably 24k) gold chair, with the album’s title seen next to him. It’s been almost 4 years since he last released his 2nd LP, 2012’s “Unorthodox Jukebox”, which spawned hits like “Locked Out of Heaven”, “When I Was Your Man”, and “Treasure”.
During the interim, Mars performed at 2 Super Bowl Half Time shows, as well as co-wrote, co-produced and sang on Mark Ronson’s smash hit “Uptown Funk”, which became one of the longest-running chart-toppers ever. The song also won 2 Grammy Awards earlier this year, including Record of the Year.
For “24K Magic”, the funky flashy video celebrates glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, featuring planes, cars, booties, women, gambling, and dancing. Directed by Mars himself and longtime collaborator Cameron Duddy, the lavish, party-heavy music visual sees the sexy crooner and his entourage dancing to the groove on the floor.
Although he declares that “I’m a dangerous man with some money in my pocket“, the single is more of a fun party with “24 karat magic in the air“. The tune itself is a blend of disco, funk, and a little of hip-hop – a record that would have fit perfectly on his sophomore effort, “Unorthodox Jukebox”. If it ain’t broken, why fix it right?
“Excited to announce ’24k Magic‘,” Mars announced earlier this week. “You can call it my first single, but I call it the invitation to the party.”
