The Weeknd is no longer in dreadlocks!

Earlier today (22nd September), the “I Can’t Feel My Face” singer tweeted the artworks for his upcoming album, titled “Starboy”. In his 2nd caption, he wrote, “I come alive in the fall time,” suggesting that he will be making a comeback sometime between September and November.

In the teaser photos, the Toronto-based singer is basking in blue light and rocking a shorter hairstyle against a bright red background, with a large crucifix hanging from his neck. The word “Starboy” can be seen written in vibrant yellow.

The photographs were shot by Nabil Elderkin, who has worked with the singer in the past and filmed music videos for Frank Ocean and K’naan.

It was recently reported that he was in the studio with French electronic duo Daft Punk over the summer, but it’s unclear if that project is related to his own album.

Though no release date or single title has been announced so far, we are beginning to miss his trademark dreadlocks already 🙁

26-year-old The Weeknd, real name Abęl Makkonen Tesfay, released his debut studio “Kiss Land” in 2013 but it wasn’t until his 2nd album, “Beauty Behind The Madness”, which produced hit singles such as “The Hills” and “Earned It”, that he won 2 Grammy Awards.

UPDATE (22nd September, 12:30pm):

The wait is over!

Wonder no more ’cause The Weeknd’s first single, “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk, was just released online and it is very sexy indeed 😉  You can now pre-order the 18-track album on iTunes here.

Listen to it on Spotify below (Don’t say we didn’t share ;)):

Though it’s a collaboration, this is Daft Punk’s first new music since 2013’s “Random Access Memories” and their first new single since 2014.
