Dubbed as Malaysia’s jazz queen, Datuk Sheila Majid has been in the music scene for 30 long years. That’s quite a long time for any career, so it’s only natural for the Malaysian songstress to celebrate her 3 decades of showbiz success with a big bang.
Having recently performed in Singapore and Jakarta, Sheila will be staging a charity concert in support of Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) later this month. Set to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, seats are available with donations from RM500 onwards.

The fund raising event is led by Ivy Josiah (former executive director of WAO) and Datuk Dr Zaha Rina Zahari (Manulife Holdings Bhd chairman). “There might be an economic slowdown but unfortunately, there is no slow down when it comes to domestic violence. In fact, it accelerates during financial hardships,” said Josiah.
Dr Zaha Rina added that when a mother is crying out for help, she’s not just seeking safety for herself but also for her children and family. “As a society, we must offer protection for all those who need it. It is only right that those of us who are able, help those who are unable to help themselves.”
Founded in 1982, WAO is a non-religious NGO in Malaysia that provides shelter and counselling for women. They are also committed to ending violence against women and promoting women’s rights.
