Fans of The Oatmeal’s overnight sensation card game, rejoice. Exploding Kittens is now available as a mobile app. That’s right!
You no longer need physical cards to play it because woot, woot, you can now do everything in your power to avoid the titular exploding kittens right on your smartphone.
The game, described as “a highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette”, now allows for faster play. The great thing is that Exploding Kittens won’t require an internet connection for multiplayer because it uses an ad-hoc network between up to 6 people using Bluetooth in WiFi.
The mobile version also includes brand new art from Matthew Inman, better known as The Oatmeal, as well as some new cards not available in the physical edition.
Exploding Kittens debuted on Kickstarter early last year, raising almost USD9 million from 219,382 pledges. It went on to become both the most funded game on the crowdfunding site, as well as the project with the most backers. Matthew Inman created the game with alternate game designer (ARG) Elan Lee and creative director Shane Small, formerly of Microsoft.
The physical version began shipping to backers in July 2015.
Want it? It costs USD1.99 on iOS, and for the next 4 days all in-app purchases (additional decks, avatars, etc.) are free of charge. Download it off the App Store here.
