Other than the triumphant return of the Four Horsemen, there’s a lot more to be excited about the 2nd “Now You See Me” film.
The first official trailer for “Now You See Me 2” finally made its debut online, offering us a first look at the new magic-themed caper thriller film.
As seen in the trailer, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine are returning to the sequel to reprise their respective roles. Since Isla Fisher was pregnant during principal photography, Lizzy Caplan is replacing her as the female lead, but in a different role.
The story will take place after the events in the first film, with the magicians resurfacing for another mind-bending adventure, elevating the limits of stage illusion to new heights and taking them around the globe.
In the first film, they outwitted the FBI and won the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles. This time around, they come back with another spectacular performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet.
Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
“Harry Potter” actor Daniel Radcliffe is featured in the sequel as the song of insurance magnate Arthur Tressler (played by Caine), but he is surprisingly the weakest magician of all. Jay Chou also joined the cast as Li, but no additional details regarding his role were revealed.
“Jem and the Holograms” helmer Jon M. Chu is taking over the role of director from Louis Leterrier (who directed the first movie), based on a script written by Ed Solomon and Pete Chiarelli. Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Bobby Cohen are producing.
