Star Wars fans around the world will soon get a first look at select new products inspired by the upcoming film “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” as the world’s first live, global toy unboxing event unfolds across 12 countries, 15 cities, and 18 hours.

In the most epic product launch ever mounted, select toys and merchandise inspired by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be revealed for the first time on YouTube.



The celebration will be hosted out of Los Angeles, with live unboxings beginning in Sydney, Australia (evening of 2nd Sept US time), and the grand finale at Lucasfilm, home of Star Wars, in San Francisco (morning of 3rd Sept US time).

Kicking off in Sydney, Australia on the morning of 3rd, and continuing through Asia, Europe, Canada, and North and South America, selections from the new toy line will debut to global fanfare leading up to retailers around the globe opening their doors at midnight.

Disney Consumer Products President Leslie Ferraro revealed:

Over the course of 18 hours, some of Maker Studios’ biggest stars will each be unboxing a new toy from the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” product line in a different city around the world and sharing the experience live on YouTube. We’ve seen tremendous excitement for these new products and can’t wait to see the global reaction from the Star Wars fan community.

The Star Wars YouTube channel will host the live stream, which kicks off with the first unboxing in Sydney, Australia at 7:45am local time on Thursday, 3rd Sept (5:45pm EDT on Wednesday, 2nd Sept), with the grand finale at Lucasfilm in San Francisco at 8am PDT (11am EDT) on Thursday, 3rd Sept.

Each of the 15 locations will reveal a new product inspired by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“.

In Malaysia, select “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” toys and merchandise will be celebrated at a Force Friday midnight event at Toys R Us Malaysia, 1st floor, Mid Valley Store from 0001 to 0200 on Friday 4th Sept 2015.

Aside from getting first dibs, there will be an exciting line up of events for fans and members of the public to participate in, including best dressed impersonator competition and Star Wars trivia with prizes to be won, and goodie bags for the first 300 customers who purchase “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” merchandise.


Top Toys R Us Star Card Spender for the night will be rewarded with a Limited Hasbro “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” toy.
