Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of a character named Callum Lynch in the popular video game series, “Assassin’s Creed“.
We never did either, until Yahoo! offers us a first look at Michael Fassbender as the said character in The New Regency’s upcoming live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game.
Rather than retelling the stories from the existing games, the movie will tell a fresh new story based on the game and introduce several new characters in the same universe. Fassbender’s character, Lynch, was one of the characters created specifically for the film.
He is described as follows:
Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.
The “Assassins’ Creed” movie will mark Fassbender’s 2nd time working together with “Macbeth” co-star Marion Cotillard and director Justin Kurzel.
Co-financed by RatPac and Alpha Picture, the film will be directed by Kurzel based on a script written by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper, and Michael Lesslie. Fassbender will produce the movie alongside Frank Marshall, Arnon Milchan, Jean-Julien Baronnet, Conor McCaughan, and Pat Crowley.
Cameras will start rolling on Monday and the filming is set to happen in Malta, London, and Spain. Besides Fassbender and Cotillard, “Assassin’s Creed” also stars Michael Kenneth Williams (of “12 Years a Slave” fame) and Ariane Labed (of “Before Midnight” fame),
20th Century Fox‘s “Assassins’ Creed” is currently slated for release on 21st December 2016.
