The new Zouk Kuala Lumpur launched last Thursday (20th August) with much fanfare at TREC on 436 Jalan Tun Razak. The grand opening was also a private preview of the newly-built 11-room superclub.

The launch was a resounding success that saw some 4,000 invited guests. They comprise members of the local and foreign press, celebrities, trendsetters, business associates and the Zouk Singapore team.

The night began at 8:45pm with Zouk brand founder Lincoln Cheng making his address.

In his speech, he said:

Zouk KL stands as a monument to the vision and industry of the people behind the Zouk brand in Kuala Lumpur. This building we see before us is the culmination of Zouk’s search for a new lease of life. The new, 11-room Zouk KL is bigger and better. We can expect it to be even more exciting than the pinnacle of entertainment that it had already been in its previous 11 years.

This was followed by Zouk KL and TREC’s founder Cher Ng, who went on to note:

Tonight, is a milestone. A project that has taken us on a roller-coaster journey in its 3-year development. A project that has involved a collective of some of the best curators of their fields in Malaysia, Singapore, the UK and the US, who have worked tirelessly, alongside each member of the Zouk KL team to build what we are all standing in now. The result: A spectacular club with 11 rooms. With this brand new building, Zouk KL takes pride of place on the global stage.

Thereafter, the club opened its doors for the private preview of its 11 spectacular rooms. No prizes for guessing why the new Zouk KL’s Member’s Lounge was our favourite 😉

The 3-hour launch ended at 11pm with a spectacular 3-minute synchronised fireworks display from the statement-making development of Zouk KL.

Zouk KL has been the forefront of electronic dance music in the capital for over a decade, sustaining the metronomic mayhem of the evolving genre. Zouk KL, the rite of passage for many, for whom the dance floors provide a baptism of fire.

Currently, Zouk KL stands at #38 in DJ Mag’s “Top 100 Clubs In The World”, as voted by global consumers. Zouk KL aims to make it to the Top 20 next year.
