#UberIceCream: Makes A Return; All Set To Sweeten Up Malaysia

Ice cream anyone?

Nothing quite encapsulates the memories of one’s childhood than enjoying ice cream with friends. This July 24th (Friday), the much loved transportation service Uber is taking you back to your childhood with ice cream on demand. Scheduled to run simultaneously in over 250 cities around the world, this will be Uber’s largest event of the year – and Uber Malaysia will be participating for the first time in this event.

Uber Visual 7

While global in nature, #UberIceCream in Malaysia will feature a distinctly local flavour – flavours that all Malaysians will recognise and love. In Kuala Lumpur, Uber has joined forces with The Inside Scoop to deliver 3 distinct flavours to riders in the Klang Valley. These flavours are Chocolate Valrhona, Teh Tarik and Mango Lassi.

Uber users in Kuala Lumpur will have 2 options to pick from in the app – “Ice Cream”, which is priced at RM20 per serving of 3 cups of ice cream, and the “Ice Cream + Swag” option, which will include ice cream and exclusive Uber merchandise, priced at RM25.

In Penang, Uber is partnering with Kochabi, a maker of traditional “ice-cream potong” to deliver that sense of nostalgia to rides with flavours such as durian, read bean and mango; while folks in Johor Bahru will get to indulge on ice cream from local favourite, Scoop Bar.

Users in Penang and JB will be charged RM25 for each ice cream delivery, and this will come together with the exclusive Uber merchandise

Chances are you can’t have a water gun fight inside your office, and running through the rain likely won’t go over well with your boss. Don’t sweat it — you can still feel like a kid again with #UberIceCream. This is a global promotion with local flavour. In 253 cities, 58 countries and on 6 continents, ice cream is available at the tap of a button. On Friday, July 24, from 1pm – 9pm, Uber KL is bringing a frozen favorite to your doorstep. #uber_my #uberlove #uberondemand #uber #uberkl #kualalumpur #malaysia #icecreamyouscream #icecream

Sounds lovely doesn’t it? Now, if you have want to be part of #UberIceCream, here are some important details to keep in mind:

  1. Uber’s frosty ice cream mobiles will hit the roads of Kuala Lumpur from 1pm – 9pm, while users in Penang and Johor Bahru will be able to get their frozen treats between 11am – 5pm.
  2. As always, no cash is needed. Your order is charged straight to your payment card on your Uber account.
  3. Demand is expected to be very high and availability of ice cream will be limited, so be speedy with those fingers!

To sweeten things up even more, Uber is also giving away free rides to users who have not experienced Uber before. New users in Kuala Lumpur will need to apply the promo code ‘ICECREAMKL’ to enjoy 1 Free Ride worth RM20, while new users in Penang and JB will need to apply the promo code ‘UBERICECREAMPG’ and ‘UBERICECREAMJB’ respectively to enjoy 1 Free Ride worth RM25.

New users will need to apply this code prior to making a request on the Uber system.

Celebrate your last working day of the week by taking part in #UberIceCream and don’t forget to share your cooling experience by tagging Uber on Twitter: Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru and Instagram: Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor Bahru with the hashtag #UberIceCream.
