“True Detective” Season 2 will premiere in 2 weeks time, but for good measure, HBO has just released 2 new promo videos to keep the hype up for the TV series.

Though the 2 videos are both 30 seconds long, each trailer portrays a very different mood when we compared them to each other.

The 1st video, titled “True Detective Season 2: Chaos (HBO)”, had plenty of dialogues and showed the characters battling their personal struggles while “True Detective Season 2: Stand (HBO)”, which is the 2nd video, had no dialogue at all but it gave off a suspenseful mood that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.

Watch the promo videos here:

The first 2 episodes of “True Detectives” Season 2 were directed by Justin Lin (director of “Fast Five”), based on a script by Nic Pizzolatto, who is also the creator of the series. It has also been revealed that Danish filmmaker Janus Metz Pederson will be directing the 3rd episode.

The official synopsis is as follows:

A bizarre murder brings together 3 law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California. Colin Farrell is Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective in the all-industrial City of Vinci, LA County. Vince Vaughn plays Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own. Rachel McAdams is Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch plays Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop for the California Highway Patrol who discovers a crime scene which triggers an investigation involving 3 law enforcement groups, multiple criminal collusions, and billions of dollars.

Season 1 of “True Detective” premiered on television on 12th January 2014, and ran for 8 episodes before airing its last episode on 9th March 2014. It recorded an average of 2.33 million viewers in the US and was so popular than it spawned a 2nd season.

The 2nd season of “True Detective” will premiere exclusively on 22nd June (Monday) at 9am, with “Ballers” and “The Brink” debut back-to-back on HBO / HBO HD (Astro Ch 411 / 431) same time as the US.

The primetime encore will air on the same day at 9pm. The shows will also be released on Astro On The Go.
