A new trailer for “Mr. Holmes” has dropped!

Now, don’t mistake this with the more mainstream “Sherlock Holmes” movie series, which stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. “Mr Holmes” is another adaptation of the novel, but it has a twist to it: Mr Holmes is portrayed as an old and ageing man whose memory is starting to fail him.

Sounds interesting to you? Well, watch the trailer below to get a drift of the movie:

The official synopsis is as follows:

The film, based on the novel “A Slight Trick of the Mind” by Mitch Cullin, was adapted for the screen by Jeffrey Hatcher (The Duchess, Stage Beauty) and begins in 1947 when an ageing Holmes returns from Japan, where, in search of a plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now in his remote seaside farmhouse Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits an unsolved case which forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love –before it’s too late.

The movie stars Sir Ian McKellen in the titular role, with Colin Starkey as Dr. John Watson, Laura Linney as the housekeeper Mrs. Munro, and Milo Parker as Roger Munro.
