A little tease here and there makes life interesting. This is exactly what we’re getting from Jared Leto, who constantly teases his fans about his upcoming role in David Ayer’s upcoming DC Comics film, “Suicide Squad“.
Earlier in March, the “Thirty Seconds to Mars” frontman cut off his long locks and shaved his shaggy beard for his role as Batman’s archenemy, The Joker, in the movie.
Of course, this wasn’t the first time he had gone through a dynamic hair evolution as he previously bleached and coloured his hair, as well as shaved his head to play a bald killer in the 2006’s “Lonely Hearts”.
A week ago, Ayer briefly teased Leto’s new look by releasing a photo that displayed his “The Joker” transformation. Today, the actor himself took to his official Snapchat account to show us a much closer and clearer look of himself as the Clown Prince of Crime. He can be seen sporting the villain’s trademark green hair and red lip.
It doesn’t seem like this is how Leto will officially look like in the movie, but it helps that his green hair is similar to the one in the original comic books Perhaps he will offer us another look at his full costume and make-up in the near future, but that is only if Warner Bros. or the director allow him to do so.
“Suicide Squad” is produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle and executive produced by Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson, and Geoff Johns. Ayer is attached to direct the film, based on Justin Marks’ screenplay.
The film is based on the original DC Comic of the same name, where a group of supervillains find themselves going on a most unlikely mission for a shot at redemption. However, the mission will probably kill them all. The Joker isn’t a member of the squad, but he is the frequent accomplice and boyfriend of Harley Quinn.
His character was previously portrayed by Cesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, and the late Heath Ledger.
Will Smith is starring in the film as Deadshot, alongside Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney‘s Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman‘s Rick Flag, Cara Delevingne‘s Enchantress, and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc. Jay Hernandez, Scott Eastwood, and Viola Davis are also set to appear for the undisclosed roles.
Ed Harris and Jackie Earle Haley are rumoured to appear in the film as well, but Warner Bros. has yet to make the official casting announcement. Latino Review reported that Jim Parrack will play Deathstroke because the studio “decided to go younger with the character”. Ike Barinholtz is said to be portraying Dr. Hugo Strange while Adam Beach is rumoured to be playing Ravan.
“Suicide Squad” is slated for release on 5th August 2016.
