There’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And Derek Zoolader has definitely found out what that is – the next generation of Zoolander!
That’s right, everyone.
Ben Stiller‘s Zoolander is returning to the sequel with a family because the actor himself recently updated his Instagram to give us a first look at his character’s son.
Stiller revealed on his Instagram post that Cyrus Arnold is joining the cast of “Zoolander 2” as Zoolander’s son, who may or may not inherit his parents’ genetic traits. It is unclear whether Arnold’s character will also go on and become a fashion model, but it seems like Stiller is eager to spend some good time with his onscreen son.
Directed and produced by Stiller, the first “Zoolander” film was a cult comedy that received strongly positive reviews from the movie critics. Since it revolves around a male model becoming a pawn in a plot to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the movie was never shown in Malaysian cinemas.
After confirming that the script for the sequel was already in the works since 2010, Stiller attended this year’s Paris Fashion Week and crashed the Valentino show with his co-star Owen Wilson to officially announce the sequel.
The official synopsis has yet to be released, but Stiller briefly described the plot during an interview with Empire Online.
It’s 10 years later and most of it is set in Europe… it’s basically Derek and Hansel… though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they’re not really relevant anymore. It’s a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he’s expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the Zoolander story, so yes, he features in a big way.
Co-written by Stiller himself and “Iron Man 2″ scribe Justin Theroux, the sequel is Stiller‘s directorial follow-up to ” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty“. The crew is currently shooting the film in Rome.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” star Penelope Cruz has signed on to star in an unspecified role while Christine Taylor and Will Ferrell will return to reprise their respective roles. Rumour has it that various other celebrities including Jonah Hill, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, and Anna Wintour will be making cameo appearances as well.
Paramount Pictures confirmed that the sequel will hit the cinemas on 12th February 2016.
