Groupon Malaysia’s “Be The Difference” Raises Over RM140,980

Just yesterday, Groupon Malaysia revealed the total amount that was contributed by kind Malaysians, to their “Be The Difference” campaign (in collaboration with the Miss Universe Malaysia Organization). Can you take a swipe at guessing how much was raised for 17 local charities?

A whopping total of over RM140,980! Yes, believe it.

Through a special microsite hosted by Groupon, Malaysians were given over 300 hours to contribute to 17 separate causes which were chosen by the 17 finalists of Miss Universe Malaysia 2013 and the full proceeds generated by “Be The Difference” campaign has been channeled to 17 charity organisations including:

  2. HOPE Worldwide
  3. Rumah HOPE
  4. SPCA Selangor
  5. KIWANIS Job Training Centre
  6. Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
  7. Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah
  8. Dyslexia Malaysia
  9. The House of Joy
  10. The Good Samaritan House
  11. The Shepherd’s Centre Foundation
  12. The Saint Barnabas Home
  13. The Precious Children Home
  14. SPCA Sabah
  15. SPCA Sarawak
  16. Malaysian Nature Society
  17. Yayasan Chow Kit

At a special cheque presentation ceremony hosted by Groupon Malaysia, Joel Neoh (Vice President and General Manager of Groupon Southeast Asia and India) reiterated that the success of the “Be The Difference” campaign was a strong indication of the power of the group buying phenomenon, which has the potential to achieve more than just business success.

“I am very proud of the entire team at Groupon Malaysia who are incredibly determined to prove that group buying can and does serve a beneficial role to our community, a fact which has been demonstrated by the success of the campaign as well as other initiatives which were held earlier this year with UNICEF, the World Food Programme, HOPE Worldwide, and World Vision Malaysia. Moving forward we will continue to advocate the support for deserving causes in Malaysia so that we may all enjoy amazing life experiences”, he said.
