MIGF 2012’s Classical Chefs Get Your Appetite A-Singin’

Opened with a classical orchestra to mark this year’s theme, “Classical Chefs – a Symphony of Great Cuisines“, the launch of the 12th edition of the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival (MIGF) 2012 served platters of fun and delights.

Thanks to our friends from Carlsberg Malaysia, we got to be one of the first few Malaysians to indulge in the one-day only launch event that allowed us and specially invited guests/food lovers to taste the premium dishes offered by MIGF’s 28 participating restaurants all through October in a “Super Gourmet Safari“.

And no, they weren’t kidding when they called it a “Super Gourmet Safari”.

At the aptly named, “Theatre of Cuisines” in Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, we were able to enjoy the creations of the festivals Master Chefs in a range of cuisines from all local staples Malay, Chinese, and Indian to ethnically influences Nyonya, Kristang, and Iban.

Let’s not forget the scrumptious international flavours such as French, Italian, Lebanese, Thai, Japanese, Korean, and Latin American. Served in delectable tasting portions, the samplings were big enough to give us an idea of each chef’s creative talents but small enough to allow us to try food from a lot of different restaurants.

And the desserts? We’ll let the pictures do the talking!

To be honest, we only made it halfway through before we were stuffed to the brim! There was simply so much food, and alcohol to boot. Oh, did we forget to mention? Carlsberg Malaysia is the official beer sponsor for this year’s MIGF.

Of course, it’s not just beer alone, but their entire diverse portfolio of internationally acclaimed beers, spirits, and wine products.

It’s a perfect fit, if you ask us.

MIGF is an integral part of Tourism Malaysia‘s “fabulous Food 1Malaysia” initiative, which promotes the country’s unique, multicultural food capabilities to the world. It will be held from 1st October to 31st October. Want to be a part of the mouth-watering month-long show? All you need are “Taste Tokens”, available at the venue of the day of the event or in advance here.
