True, she seems to have achieved everything an artiste can ever hope to achieve in a lifetime. She has performed in sold-out shows, traveled the world, launched her own fragrance brand, bagged numerous awards and accolades, sold 87 million records, claimed music charts repeatedly, you name it.
Unfortunately, all was not always well for Lady Gaga.
Recently, she published several unedited (and therefore unflattering) photos of herself in her underwear on her website. It wasn’t a publicity stunt – she only wanted to respond to all the “fat jibes” that she has been getting and to raise awareness of body issues. What was more startling was a caption underneath on of the pictures which read, “Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15”.
In an open letter to her fans, she said:
My weight/loss/gain since i was child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have. My boyfriend prefers me curvier, when I eat and am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been. I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size. And I love you, and want you to be proud in any form you may take as well. Please don’t look for kindness in critics, go where you know the gold is. Here, in our hearts.

Love, Gaga.
Who would’ve known that the international star had gone through so much pain? The move also kicked off her “Body Revolution 2012”, a forum for fans to address body image issues and embrace and share their flaws and insecurities.
Inspiring!
