2 New Drops From Crocs x The Beatles & Salomon x Sandy Liang Hit The Spot!

From everyday footwear to dedicated trainers – many shoes on the market feature loud, and oftentimes, aggressive designs. The creative decisions that led to their creation gave rise to the “sporty” design that many consumers love.

But what if there was footwear meant for those who’d like to evoke a more playful nature? Well, you’re in luck! Here are two kicks – ranging from fun, pastel numbers to homages to the 60s – for you to try on for size.

Crocs x The Beatles “Yellow Submarine” Collection

Crocs has always had an affinity for the whimsical. Which is why the iconic footwear brand has decided to pay homage to one of the most famous rock bands in history, The Beatles. Inspired by the band’s beloved 1968 film, “Yellow Submarine,” the American footwear brand decided to take its popular silhouettes and blend them with the psychedelic colours and patterns of the 60s into two fashionably functional clogs.

The first features the more traditional footwear that we are accustomed to – but comes in a mish-mash of polychromatic colours – a dazzling display that is a staple of the jukebox musical movie. It comes equipped with a variety of Jibbitz, some of which recreate the more popular visuals in the film, including the four band members themselves.

Inside the footwear is a black coating, free of any colours or branding, letting you rest your feet naturally without smudging any designs. Sealing the deal with this is a co-branding at the heel portion of the shoe that showcases Crocs and The Beatles branding, the former of which is embossed on the strap while the latter is printed in bright yellow text on the very sole of the clog.

2 Bold New Kicks From Dr. Martens & Nike Tap Into 80s' Cool & Rebellious Vibes

The second takes the image of the titular yellow submarine closer to heart. Coming in a predominantly yellow body, this clog features design aspects of the actual sub. However, the biggest addition to the silhouette are the famous four persicopes mounted right in the middle of the toe box and two propellers at the very heel of the clog. It has all the hallmarks of the celebrated submarine, with the Fab Four peering out of the submarine’s portholes.

The Beatles x Crocs Clogs are available for purchase at Croc’s official website, retailing for US$70 (~RM315).

Salomon x Sandy Liang XT-Whisper

Sandy Liang and Salomon have joined forces for the third time to drop the hottest trio of sneakers based on a beloved classic.

Out of all of Salomons’s archived pairs, Sandy Liang expresses her affinity and affection for a singular design. In a press release, she wrote, “The XT-Whisper is by far one of the most beloved silhouettes from the Salomon archives, and I loved the challenge of reimagining it through a fresh, modern lens. This collaborative design reflects my love for outdoor adventures paired with the practicality and ease of my everyday city life.”

Liang’s reworking of the XT-Whisper deviates from the typical aggressive designs and loud colour combinations, with a softer look and a cooler pastel colour palette. Dipped in soft pinks and fairytale hues, the kicks bring a cuter look to the overall pair, with streaks of silver and white to break the monotony while also providing some visual interest. Topping it all off is a cute five-petalled flower located at the tip of the shoe’s tongue as well as its insole.

ASICS Drops GEL-KAYANO™ 32: More Cushion, More Support, More You!

The Salomon x Sandy Liang XT-Whisper retails for US$150 (~RM675) and is available for purchase now at Sandy Liang’s website, with the Salomon release slated for 23rd January.
