2 Bougie Watch Drops We’re Wild About: Patek Philippe Aquanaut & Ressence TYPE 3 BB2

Though watches are essentially just time-telling gadgets, that doesn’t mean that they can’t look stylish as well.

From reimagined classics to oil-filled innovations – here are two new watch drops that look snatched for the Gods!

Patek Philippe Aquanaut In “Eternal Green”

Artisans de Genève are no strangers to creating absolutely exquisite timepieces that are built with blood, sweat, and tears, from the ground up. This time around, the Swiss watchmaker group has tried something different by reworking one of its most iconic items.

Dubbed “Eternal Green,” this watch has been redesigned with an exquisite new look that honours the legacy of its original creators, while simultaneously catering to the client’s preferences. The client, Mr. V.B., wanted to reinterpret his ref. 5167A in a way that honours his personal journey, serving as a memento for a particular time and moment in his life.

Each new component of the expertly-redesigned, skeletonised 324 movement has been painstakingly bevelled, polished, and coated. The watch is still contained in its original watch case, but it receives a fresh coat of paint in the form of a new chapter ring featuring that “Eternal Green” PVD treatment.

However, that isn’t the only change done to the watch. Additional changes include a steel balancing bridge, hand-pierced and finished gold rotor, and newly fitted yellow gold hands. A new rubber strap is created especially to match the colour scheme of the piece by Rubber B, a partner of the independent Swiss workshop.

This reworked Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref. 5167A can be purchased for CHF58,520 (~RM297,810). Head on over to the Artisans de Genève’s website for more on the timepiece.

TYPE 3 BB2

Watches are typically powered by sophisticated gears and delicate bearings. The world of watchmaking demands that timepieces and all their components be free from any fluids that could potentially damage, if not destroy, the overall piece. But what if we told you that the Belgium-based watchmaking group Ressence has a fully-functional wrist oil-filled timepiece? What’s even more interesting is that this creation is the brand’s third iteration on this unique take.

The TYPE 3 BB2 might actually seem familiar to fans, as it shares features with Ressence’s previous TYPE 3 Black, released in 2022. Though that might be true to a certain extent, this piece features an updated watch face with a reduced number of colours that creates an even more minimalistic dial design.

Combining this with the watch’s unique ability to reduce distortion—which is typically brought on by light refraction—makes for a well-rounded experience. Adding to the time reference’s augmented readability, engraved indications are filled with Grade A Super-LumiNova® to ensure legibility, no matter what lighting conditions.

Its size and materiality are similar with the previous TYPE 3 models, coming in a 44mm case diameter and a DLC-coated titanium pebble-shaped case. Powering it all is the patented ROCS 3.5 movement, which is fitted with Ressence’s Orbital Convex System with 36 hours of continuous running time.

The TYPE 3 BB2 is priced at CHF38,200 (~RM194,401) and is available through Ressence’s retail partners. Read all about it at Ressence’s official website.
