11 Non-Traditional Ways To Celebrate Christmas This Year!

Are you at a loss as to how to prepare for Christmas this year? Are you tired of age-old Yuletide customs observed every 25th December? We gotchu!

As much as we all love Christmas and the joy it brings, sometimes, we get bored with the same ol’ festive things. It’s always about big dinners with the same menu, gifts you may or may not want, and lots of cleaning up. So if you want a break from the traditional ways of celebrating Christmas, why not switch it up with things and activities you actually find fun and unconventional? Like, who’s gonna stop you, anyway?

Christmas isn’t just about turkeys and gifts – it’s so much more. So if you’re looking for alternative ways to celebrate Christmas this year, we’ve got a bunch of recommendations:

Trade In Your Tree

Fox Hollow Cottage

Is there anything more fun than decorating a Christmas tree over the holidays? Perhaps it’s time to replace the conventional tree with something interesting and enjoyable. Any object may be made into a festive focal point for your living area with a little creativity. Think about adorning a coat rack, a ladder, a bookcase, or perhaps a dining chair this year. Put up some garland, string some Christmas lights, and hang some ornaments to bring in the festive atmosphere. Remember to arrange your gifts – whether they are for you or someone else – around the bottom.

Go On A Vacation

Pack your bags and celebrate Christmas elsewhere!

Laredo Morning Times

It’s very traditional to stay put at home for Christmas. Why not give yourself a break and go on a holiday instead? Granted, sandy beaches are probably not the first thing that spring to mind when you think of Christmas, but plenty of people celebrate the season in the absence of snow. For your holiday feast, you can experiment with different menu items or include a customary dish from your travel destination. But don’t worry, most holiday resorts probably have buffets with a Christmas theme.

Do A Fun Photoshoot

If you are a parent of a child or teenager, you are aware of how quickly time passes and how soon you will be exchanging your sticky chocolate-covered fingers for smartphones. For this reason, it’s vital to create memories for kids now, while they’re young. This holiday season, schedule some time for a fun family photo shoot to capture this special moment in your lives. If you don’t like the conventional, posed Christmas pictures, do something different and imaginative. Take unscripted pictures, for instance, when you’re having a Christmas party or decorating the house. When you view them again years later, we promise it will make you chuckle.

Deep Holiday Cleaning

VIP Clean

After the holidays, it’s normal for our homes to appear a little disorganized. We tend to neglect cleaning due to a number of factors, including an increase in visitors for parties, clutter from decorations and Christmas shopping, and the feeling of time constraints that many of us have when juggling the celebrations. If you’re tired of spending holiday the same way every year,  you can try something different instead – turn up your preferred holiday music and start cleaning! Trust us, this is not only relaxing, but you’ll feel satisfied that your home is clean.

Volunteering

Serving others is another way to share the Christmas spirit. Throughout the year, a wide range of organizations could benefit from your assistance. Additionally, during the holidays, there is an even greater demand for volunteers. During the holidays, if everyone donates even a small amount of their time, it might make a significant impact on those who most need it.

Give Someone Else A Christmas

Once you’ve tried this, you might end up making it a tradition!

Sign Up Genius

Christmas is all about giving. We get that Christmas means family time and all, but have we ever thought about those who can’t afford Christmas? We’re pretty sure you’ve come across a lot of children’s homes and impoverished families. It would be wonderful to make Christmas happen for these unfortunate people rather than just yourself. You can buy them each a gift, a Christmas feast, and a tree – you can do anything good for them to get them into the Christmas spirit.

Organize An Ornament Exchange

Seeking a cost-effective method to relish the custom of exchanging gifts with others? Putting together an ornament exchange is a great way to spread some holiday cheer and celebrate Christmas. Organize a covert gift exchange a la Santa where each participant draws a name. Buying a Christmas ornament for your recipient to display on their tree is the aim. To help everyone get inspired when they shop, you may either establish a theme or leave the alternatives open-ended.

Throw A Slumber Party

Forget fancy dresses – get into your festive jammies!

Breezy Scroll

It’s fun for children as well as adults. Grownup obligations frequently prevent us from indulging in simple pleasures we would like to. So here’s your chance. Wear your best pajamas, do each other’s nails, watch a childhood favourite move, and catch up on all the latest gossip.

Get Crafty

Feeling creative this holiday season?

S&S Worldwide

Make plans for a joyful and entertaining crafting party with your pals. You can push your plans later in the day to unleash your creativity over a bottle of wine, or get together late in the morning for brunch and creating. Turn up your favourite Christmas music or make a craft while you watch a holiday movie together if you’re searching for a way to add some more conventional holiday themes. You can organize a “Bring Your Own Craft” party or supply all the materials required for each person to create handmade Christmas crafts.

Cook Non-traditional Christmas Dishes

NIO Cocktails

If turkey isn’t among your “must-have foods,” consider switching things up for the holidays. This year, create a unique Christmas feast by combining everyone’s favourite foods. The items could be presented buffet style if they don’t usually go together. Everyone is sure to enjoy THIS Christmas supper!

Unplug From Technology

The internet has become more than a luxury. Technology is essential to our daily routines for everything from shopping to learning, and we almost never get a break from it. This holiday season, take this chance to disconnect, even if it’s only for few hours. Put your phone away, turn it off completely, and ignore it while interacting with friends and family. Store laptops and tablets away so they don’t get in the way of in-person interactions. These are unique opportunities for a lot of us, so don’t let this one pass you by.
