10 Movies & Series You Gotta Watch If You Can’t Get Enough Of Bridgerton!

If you’re like us and have a Bridgerton obsession, you probably binged the entire series in one sitting. But since there are just two seasons available on Netflix, what do you do now? Not to worry. There’s a tonne of series and movies with the same vibe as the beloved period drama that’ll satisfy your Bridgerton craving.

Our recommendations below include both new and old programmes you can re-watch or enjoy for the first time. We’re talking a heap of scandals – and even some well-known actors you may have first encountered on Bridgerton itself! Happy viewing!

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story

YouTube video

Since this miniseries serves as a precursor to Bridgerton, it will be listed first. It serves as a sort of origin myth by tracing Queen Charlotte’s early years. The series also includes appearances by Lady Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

Emma

YouTube video

Emma, an adaptation of Jane Austen’s 1815 novel of the same name, is set in early 19th-century England and centres on self-centered Emma Woodhouse, who meddles in her friends’ romantic relationships when she has no business doing so.

Emily In Paris

YouTube video

No, it’s not elite society in Regency London. However, Emily in Paris is Bridgerton in the twenty-first century. Lily Collins plays aspiring marketing executive Emily Cooper, an American who relocates to Paris in order to provide a French marketing agency an American perspective. She struggles to overcome obstacles in her profession, love life, and friendships. Catch season one to three today.

Marie Antoinette

YouTube video

Louis Cunningham plays the dauphin, and Emilia Schüle plays the titular royal. The series discusses their many affairs, rocky marriage and – most importantly – will give Marie Antoinette herself, a figure who has received much criticism in history books, some context.

The Crown

YouTube video

You’ll be entranced by the lives of the British royal family, even though The Crown is set more than 100 years after Bridgerton. You might be shocked by how similar they are, especially given that several of the sequences were filmed in the same places.

Little Women

YouTube video

In a society that seeks to hold them down, women in this film set in the 1800s try to discover love and their own brand of independence. Sounds recognizable? Then this movie is ideal for you if you’re a great Eloise fan! Additionally, this historical drama features Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh, two fan favourites.

Persuasion

YouTube video

Persuasion, a Netflix original film starring Dakota Johnson as the title character, is based on Jane Austen’s final, fully finished book. In Johnson’s “modern, witty” adaptation of the novel, Anne Elliot, a “nonconforming woman with modern sensibilities,” navigates her family’s financial problems and rekindles a past love. Catch Persuasion right now to see a cast that includes the handsome Henry Golding and the astute Richard E. Grant.

The Great

YouTube video

The longest-reigning female ruler in Russian history, Catherine the Great, is portrayed by Elle Fanning. You won’t be able to get enough of the frenemies trope in this satirical dramedy, which takes place in 18th-century Russia.

Harlots

YouTube video

The movie Harlots is, well, about harlots; in particular, Margaret Wells, a wealthy brothel owner who wants to give her daughters a better life. The series, which is set in late 1760s Georgian London, examines the challenges faced by women of the time as they sought to secure their financial futures through either a successful marriage or sex trade. Evangelists and political zealots oppose women like Wells who opt for the latter or are compelled to do so by birth, class, or poverty at every point, vowing to wipe them out of society.

7 New Shows On Prime Video That'll Rock Your January

Gentleman Jack

YouTube video

The 1830s industrialist Anne Lister is the subject of Sally Wainwright’s series, which is based on the events and lesbian relationships she chronicles in her actual, code-written journals. Lister is portrayed by Suranne Jones, while Ann Walker is her love interest, played by Sophie Rundle.

The Spanish Princess

YouTube video

The Spanish Princess, a short series on Stan, depicts the tale of Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon. The teenage Catherine is represented by Charlotte Hope, who was sent by her parents, Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand of Spain, to meet her future husband, Prince Arthur of Wales. But following his unexpected passing, she runs across then-Prince Henry and the xenophobia of the English court.

The Pursuit Of Love

YouTube video

The three-episode miniseries, which Emily Mortimer adapted from the renowned same-titled 1945 novel by Nancy Mitford, is set in the interwar period and centres on two cousins whose divergent objectives and personalities strain their relationship.

Dickinson

YouTube video

Enter a hilarious universe with Dickinson, a dark comedy that imagines the life of the renowned poet as a melancholy, troubled kid. The show’s major topics of gender and sexuality are explored through humour, which also serves as a disarming mask. Alena Smith, the series’ creator, cleverly translates the poet’s rebellious imagination; during the entire run of the show, Hailee Steinfeld’s Emily utters modern jargon that denotes her contemporary attitude, at odds with her oppressive culture. Jane Krakowski, who portrays Emily’s perpetually suffering mother, and Wiz Khalifa, who plays Death, are also featured in Dickinson. Dickinson’s poetry will never be read in the same way again.
