Local singer Syasya’s decision to leave DOLLA and the subsequent announcement of her marriage shocked fans. While many iDOLLAs have shown support for the 23-year-old, some have voiced their disappointment over never seeing the singer perform with her fellow group members again. However, is there a chance for a solo career?
Earlier this week, the recently three-membered DOLLA appeared at the Universal Music Malaysia Raya Open House. During the event, Tabby, Sabronzo and Angel spoke to the media to clear the air about the group, their future and their relationship with former member Syasya. Joining them was Universal Music Malaysia managing director Kim Lim, who also addressed Syasya’s status in the label.
Kim revealed that the vocalist is still signed to the label despite leaving the group as all four members had signed their contracts as individuals. When asked about Syasya’s future with the company, the managing director said they’re still discussing the matter but won’t knock down the possibility of Syasya starting a solo career. However, she added the singer wants to take a break for the time being so they can’t promise fans anything.
The DOLLA girls also refute rumours of a rift between the members, saying that all four of them are still close with each other. They also clarified that Syasya had already disclosed her plans to leave the group to get married, adding that they respect her decision as long as she’s happy. The girl group also shared how they feel about going from a quartet to a trio, saying they’ll work hard so the change won’t affect their performances.
While nothing is for sure, perhaps this can give some hope to the fans who want to see Syasya on stage again.
