Think you’ve got the talent and the skills to become a prestigious director? Perhaps this is your chance to show off your talent!
In partnership with Astro, Sundance Channel will launch a first-ever competition of its kind that gives a chance to aspiring Malaysian filmmakers to submit their original short films to be showcased on the network.
Interested participants will be able to submit their short films at the official website for Astro’s Sundance Channel, starting from October 1, 2014 until November 23, 2014. But! The competition requires the participants to provide their proof of residency in Malaysia and ensure the film is no longer than 12 minutes.
On top of that, the submissions must meet Sundance Channel’s and Astro’s technical requirements and it must have never been shown on Malaysian TV previously. The requirements are available on the website together with an explanatory video detailing everything including tips. Additional information will be tweeted with the hashtag #SCShorts.
The films submitted by the top 3 finalists will premiere on Sundance Channel HD (CH438) in 2015 and will be screened at an exclusive event in Kuala Lumpur in December. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a trip to the prestigious 2015 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah with exclusive access to screenings, panels, events and the awards ceremony. The trip will include airfare and hotel accommodation for 2 people for 3 nights. The two runners up will receive professional digital cameras.
Entries will be handpicked by the judges based on several criteria, including creativity, entertainment value, original storytelling and production value. The jury members will include representatives from Sundance Channel, Astro and the filmmaking community. Finalists will be announced on 7th December.
