When you’re travelling to a foreign country, you may come across situations that seem bewildering. While on holiday in Switzerland, local YouTuber Che Nom revealed an experience that left her dumbfounded.
On 3rd December 2025 (Wednesday), the social media personality took to Facebook to share a recent experience she had while in Switzerland, revealing that she and her family were kicked out of a cafe in front of the Lauterbrunnen train station. Che Nom explained that her son, who has autism spectrum disorder (ASD), had a motor tic, causing him to produce a cough-like sound. The YouTuber noted that this behaviour was normal for him.

However, the cafe owner was alerted by the sound and approached the family, telling them to leave the premises. Che Nom recalled the owner saying, “You’re sick. You’re spreading (a) virus. Please leave.” The media figure tried to explain that her son merely had a motor tic and wasn’t sick. Unfortunately, the cafe owner still kicked them out. Not wanting to cause a scene, Che Nom and her family left the cafe.
Interestingly, the influencer mentioned that another customer had a similar bad experience with the cafe owner. She then lamented about the “direct” personality of the Swiss people, which can be off-putting. However, Che Nom said that she and her family didn’t want to dwell on the situation and continued looking for a friendlier cafe. Many netizens have shared their reaction to the interaction and Chen Nom’s response.

Many sympathised with Che Nom and her son for having to experience discrimination while overseas, noting that the cafe owner seemed quite arrogant. Others also took the opportunity to share their personal experience of dealing with difficult people while on holiday. However, some praised the social media personality for her calm response to the situation despite not being in the wrong.
It’s unfortunate that Che Nom and her family were kicked out merely due to a misunderstanding. However, we commend her for not reacting rashly, as it could affect locals’ opinion of Malaysians. What are your thoughts on this?
