It’s confirmed: YIFY and its website, YTS, are officially gone now.
Multiple unnamed but trusted sources confirmed to TorrentFreak that there’s no coming back for the popular torrent release group and its website as they have shut down permanently.
According to TorrentFreak, YIFY and YTS have stopped working without warning or explanation since 2 weeks ago.
Though there’s no official statement from the group, several sources confirmed to TorrentFreak about its demise. Additional information about the shutdown have also been asked to avoid revealing it at the time.
Our sister site Lowyat.Net pointed out that the group’s closure could be voluntary as it has not been tracked down by law enforcement agencies.

YIFY has shared more than 6,000 releases since arriving in the scene in 2010.
It closure has raised concern among many BitTorrent users because the torrent release group dominated public BitTorrent sites for several years. Some users also expressed their disappointment as the group is one of the biggest torrent systems to consistently release good quality movies online.
Though the closure of the group doesn’t mean the piracy will finally come to an end, the unexpected shutdown has definitely marked the end of an astonishing era.

On a separate note, the closure of YIFY may greatly affect the efficiency of Popcorn Time as the torrent release group is the primary supplier of content for many of the app’s forks.
Since YIFY and YTS sites have shut down permanently, torrent users are advised to avoid the fake sites that have appeared over the last few weeks for security reasons.
