In a recent interview, South Korean actor Lee Jong Suk, who received his military summons at the end of July, talked about his military enlistment plans.
The star said that he planned to postpone his enlistment due to his busy schedules. He explained, “I was originally planning to (enlist in the military service), but because of scheduling conflicts with my (new) film, it became delayed.”
Although his label, YG Entertainment, confirmed the the postponement early this month, Lee said that he will make an official announcement once he finalises his plans. “When my plan becomes finalised, I will officially announce a statement so please wait till then,” he said.
In case you didn’t know, fit and able men in South Korea are required to enlist in the military once they hit 18 years old. However, the maximum age of conscription is 30 and those who do not serve by then will face legal action.
Besides that, the actor also also opened up about being an introvert and feeling “very shy in front of people”. He shared, “Before I was busy staying home watching dramas. I’m generally a gloomy person, but my mind has recently changed. I’m trying hard to go outside. While acting, I feel a lot of pressure from people around me who praise my acting, so I meet people from everyday life to relieve that stress.”
Lee is currently promoting his new film, titled “V.I.P”, where he plays the role of Kim Kwang Il, a serial murderer. He will next be seen in SBS’ new K-Drama “While You Were Sleeping”(당신이 잠든 사이에) alongside Miss A member and actress Suzy.
