Manners maketh man, yet it’s surprising how many people still lack basic politeness. TV host and actress Xiao Yu (小玉)’s latest life experience can certainly attest to that.
Xiao Yu had recently been eating at a restaurant when her meal was rudely interrupted by another customer who insisted on taking her seat. Needless to say, his attitude frustrated her and it didn’t take her long to turn to her socials to vent.

On Sunday (26th November), Xiao Yu’s story showed a photo of a man and a woman sitting at a restaurant with their faces blurred. As it turns out, she had her reasons for posting about them.
“I was (very clearly) halfway through (my meal) at this restaurant when this uncle walked in. He asked the staff to drive me away because he wanted to sit in my seat,” she explained. “There are still such domineering people in these times. It’s so arrogant. In the end, I had to pay and leave quietly.”
She later shared to China Press that she had been at the restaurant out of convenience as she was in the area to film. But, she never expected her meal to be so rudely interrupted. She added that the staff had apologised for the request, and she only left to avoid worsening the situation for the staff member.

“I didn’t argue with (the customer),” she added. “(As) I felt (dealing with him would be) uncomfortable and unreasonable.” However, even as she was getting ready to leave, Xiao Yu claimed she could feel the uncle glaring at her out of impatience. “Such (behaviour) from a customer is too overbearing,” she reportedly remarked.
Xiao Yu remarked that she had wondered if the man was the restaurant’s owner. But, she felt his status did not warrant such rude behaviour. She opined that he could have inquired about the seat, but still waited for her to finish her food. Additionally, she claimed the restaurant did no mediate for her, nor did they attempt to compensate for her bad experience there.

The TV hostess has since seemingly moved on from the incident. However, we do hope her next visit to said restaurant will be less abrupt and more enjoyable!
