Last year, Chinese stars Wu Jinyan (吴谨言) and Hong Yao (洪尧) surprised the public when they announced their marriage. The couple even reportedly welcomed their first child together earlier this year, but is their marriage already heading towards the end?
Chinese star Wu Jinyan and Hong Yao tied the knot in September 2024, announcing their new relationship status via their Weibo accounts. The posts also included a photo of their marriage certificate and a picture of the two with a red background, signifying their marriage. The two posts immediately went viral, with the marriage announcement trending on Weibo and other social media outlets.

Wu Jinyan and Hong Yao met on the set of their drama, “Story of Yanxi Palace”. While the two never shared a scene, the couple fell in love off-screen and have reportedly been together since 2019. Earlier this year, there were speculations that Wu Jinyan had secretly given birth to her first child. While the public widely believed the rumours, the pair has yet to confirm the allegations.
Shockingly, just over a year after the marriage announcement, there are now rumours that the couple is divorcing. This claim emerged after netizens noticed that their marriage announcement posts were gone from their respective Weibo accounts. Many argued that this was a sign that the two may be facing marital issues. However, some fans explained that the deleted posts were just a technical issue and not a hint about the couple’s divorce.

As it turns out, Hong Yao set his Weibo account to only display posts from the past year, meaning posts from before the time period are no longer available. Similarly, Wu Jinyan also set her account to only show posts for six months. Additionally, Hong Yao has shared a post on Weibo, seemingly denying the allegations. The post writes, “Stop suspecting this and that every day. Everything is fine, everything is good.”
It’s good to know that the divorce rumours are just that – rumours. We hope the couple weren’t too affected by the sudden influx of false claims, but what are your thoughts on this?
