Last year, fans celebrated BTS (방탄소년단) member Jin (진)’s return to the spotlight following the completion of his mandatory military service. The idol held a meet-and-greet during the annual BTS Festa event, where he was unfortunately subjected to sexual harassment when a Japanese woman kissed him on the neck as it was her turn on stage.
The fan faced significant backlash, with many believing she had overstepped a boundary. She was later booked by the police earlier this year, and we have now finally received an update on the case.

According to reports, a Japanese woman, who remains anonymous, was charged with indecently assaulting BTS member Jin during an event held in mid-2024. The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office indicted her without detention on 12th November. In other words, she will be put on trial without being put in jail. “I’m upset. I never imagined this would be considered a crime,” the accused reportedly said during the investigation, believing that she’s being treated unfairly.
When the case was first reported, Korean police, working with Interpol, located and identified the woman. However, investigations were temporarily put on hold while awaiting her return to South Korea from Japan for questioning. The Seoul Songpa Police concluded that her actions constituted a crime and subsequently forwarded the case to prosecutors. At the time of writing, there has been no update from the woman’s attorney regarding her current status.

To this day, neither Jin nor BigHit Music has commented on the incident. Let this serve as a reminder to always be mindful and respectful towards celebrities, particularly during public events. What are your thoughts on this case? Should the woman face a harsher sentence for her actions?
