When POPCAT Becomes A National Sport: Netizens Try Hard For Malaysia To Win Gold

When it comes to Malaysia’s fighting spirit, there’s no match for it, be it for cheering on our athletes during major sports events or even debating with Singaporeans on whose food is tastier! Well, now, with the Olympics being done and dusted with many of us, awaiting eagerly for the 2024 Olympics to commence, Malaysians have definitely brought a new meaning to online competitions by immersing themselves in the addictive game of POPCAT.

For those who are new to this game, POPCAT is a popular clicking game where you click (on your computer) or tap (on your phone) a cat named Oatmeal for points. Due to its simple yet useless, nature where all you’d have to do is to tap on the cat, it seems like our country is hunting for gold!

Currently, Malaysia is battling with Thailand and Taiwan for the first place and at least, we’re in third place, for now with a total of over 14 billion ‘pops’. This is a huge comeback from our 10th place last Friday! The game goes by so fast until you might not realise that Malaysia would have clinched first place in the blink of an eye.

Burger lovers would definitely rejoice at this news. This is due to the fact that a Facebook post by a home-grown Malaysian burger joint, myBurgerLab indicates that if Malaysia gets to the first place, they will treat us to free burgers. This post has received 3.9k reactions with over 1,000 comments and 2,000 shares! Guess Malaysians love free food, huh? In addition to this, the burger joint has also said that they’ll be issuing the vouchers in the upcoming days via their application.

Syed Saddiq Admits He Has Intentions To Get Married?

POPCAT has also gained the attention of the MP of Muar, YB Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman — resulting in him being amazed by Malaysia’s efforts in securing the first rank. His tweet displayed three “face exhaling” emojis and one of his followers even replying to his post with her cat playing the game.

Nevertheless, let’s all contribute to Malaysia’s win in POPCAT when we’re free, of course! It’s nice to see Malaysians coming together even for the silliest of things especially, in the midst of political turmoil.
