It’s no secret that K-pop idols have bodies that are the envy of many women. However, many would agree that MAMAMOO’s (마마무) Hwasa (화사) is the perfect balance of healthy and toned. So, what’s her secret to maintaining her figure?
In a recent interview, the powerhouse vocalist discussed her weight loss, noting that she recently slimmed down for her latest comeback. Hwasa also revealed that she changed her exercise routine and shared her most recent workout obsession: running. In fact, the same exercise method is how she lost weight.

When she’s running indoors, Hwasa said she typically runs around 3 kilometres. However, when she’s running outdoors, she likes to increase the distance, going for 7 to 8 kilometres. While it doesn’t seem like a lot, the singer explained the key to losing weight is to do fasting runs, or running on an empty stomach.
The “Maria” singer says fasting runs help her feel lighter, be more focused throughout the day and even eat better afterwards. In a separate interview, Hwasa admits to switching from her previous workout routine to one that helps her look slender rather than muscular. However, the singer said she doesn’t restrict her food but eats a balanced meal.
