(Video) “You Ruined My Taste Buds”: American TikToker Compares Malaysian Food To Other Countries

Malaysians can be very prideful of our local cuisine – but not all the locals will blindly accept praise. That’s why netizens have mixed reactions about this TikToker’s over-the-top claims about Malaysian food.

TikToker Lilith is an American based in Kuala Lumpur who has been sharing her daily life here in Malaysia through social media. In one of her recent videos, the TikToker had more praise for Malaysian food, saying it had “ruined” her taste buds because it’s too good.

She added that she cannot stop comparing Malaysian food to the cuisine in other countries and thinks it’ll be difficult for her to move to other countries. On TikTok, the American’s video was generally well accepted, with many Malaysians echoing her comments on the local cuisine.

One commenter added that the wide variety of food here is also why Malaysian food is much loved. As the TikToker is currently in the Bahamas, many locals even said she should return to Malaysia to satisfy her cravings.

However, the video received quite the opposite attention on Twitter. While many agreed with what Lilith said about Malaysian food, they also believe the content creator is only saying those praises for clout. Many said that it’s common for foreigners, typically Caucasians, to praise Malaysia because they want their content to go viral, adding that the locals are also easily susceptible to this “tactic”.

What do you think about Lilith’s video? Is she telling the truth? Or are her praises merely to farm for engagements?
